Janice MacLeod

Janice MacLeod


Janice is eligible for membership through the service of her husband, Robert F. MacLeod, who served in Vietnam with the United States Coast Guard.  Robert was the first Commander of American Legion Post #523 in Harrisburg.


A driving force in the formation and organization of Harrisburg’s American Legion Auxiliary, Janice served as its inaugural President and has continued to serve in various capacities since that time.  She was selected as Unit President of the Year at the June 2006 Department Convention.


Janice served as a District President for three years and as a Division President for two years, being selected as Outstanding Division President at the 2011 Department Convention.


On the Department level, Janice served as Field Service Director for two years, Americanism Chairman, and Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Chairman.  At Department Convention in June 2013, she was elected Vice President and also served as Membership Chairman.


Janice has attended numerous National Conventions as a delegate and also attended numerous Legion Family College sessions, serving as a presenter during three of those.


Janice recently completed a thirty-five year career in commercial real estate.  She continues to serve as accountant for Charlotte Bridge Home, a not-for-profit organization established to aid in our military service members’ transition back to civilian life.  Janice is a former rugby player and has been a member of the Charlotte Rugby Football Club since 1979.  She is a member of Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
